Section1: Commodity Update:

Iron is the primary raw material used to produce steel. Globally, steel production contributes 98 per cent of the demand for iron, while electronics and non-metallurgical uses the remaining 2%. Iron extraction and steel production industries majorly found in Canada, especially in the industrial zones of Ontario and Quebec. Besides heavy production of steel, this metal is easy to recycle. In fact, many of Canada's steel plants make steel totally from scrap. The iron and steel industry are divided into four groups, iron and steel integrated producers, steel integrated companies, steel processors, and foundries and fabricators. The steel industry is moving towards the manufacture of modern, high-strength steel that produces energy more efficiently and leads to greater energy efficiency when used in the building and transportation sectors. The major demand for steel is driven by rising demand from manufacturing and transportation sectors.
