Conclusion
The Company has reported a lower financial performance in the second quarter of the financial year 2021. Despite the higher revenue, the bottom-line performance declined. BABA needs to manage operating expenses more effectively unless it will further impact the profitability margins in the future period. The liquidity position for the period also declined, while the balance sheet remained well-positioned. At present, the Company is not able to provide any guidance of FY2021 and will continue to monitor the situation and expects to see improvement in the effect of scale and operational efficiencies. The stock made a 52-week low and high of USD 169.95 and USD 319.32, respectively.
Based on the factors as highlighted above, we believe the stock of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd is “Expensive” at the closing price of USD 243.46 (as on 15 January 2021), with support from few catalysts needs to be evaluated at a later stage such as improvement in trading after easing in lockdown restrictions.
