Canuc Resources Corporation (TSXV: CDA) (OTCQB: CNUCF) has announced the discovery of a new near-surface gold-mineralised zone — the East-West Pit Area Zone 2 — at its 100% owned East Sudbury Project in Ontario, approximately 20 kilometres east of Sudbury. Ten drill holes have confirmed the zone over a strike length of approximately 170 metres, with select intercepts returning grades as high as 7.58 g/t Au. The company states it intends to incorporate Zone 2 into the project's maiden mineral resource estimate, which it currently expects to release later in 2026.
Key Points
- Canuc Resources Corporation (TSXV: CDA) (OTCQB: CNUCF)
- New East-West Pit Area Zone 2 confirmed over approximately 170 metres of strike at the East Sudbury Project
- Best intercepts include 20.0 metres grading 1.51 g/t Au (including 5.0 metres of 3.78 g/t Au) and 8.0 metres of 1.21 g/t Au (including 1.0 metre of 7.58 g/t Au); four additional holes await assay results
- Investors may be watching for pending assay results from four additional western-end holes and progress toward the maiden resource estimate
Zone 2 Discovery Confirmed Across Ten Drill Holes at East-West Pit Area
Canuc's drill programme at the East-West Pit Area targeted a previously unrecognised, north-dipping chlorite breccia zone immediately adjacent to the historically mined East-West Pit at the past-producing Scadding Gold Mines. All ten holes intersected the targeted zone over interpreted true thicknesses of 3 to 15 metres, drilled on approximately 25-metre spacings to vertical depths of 50 to 75 metres. Gold mineralisation was encountered as shallow as 3.5 metres downhole in hole SM-26-151. The zone remains open to the north, and historical drilling by a previous operator reportedly intersected gold mineralisation at vertical depths of approximately 85 and 110 metres.
Key Assay Results and Variable Grade Distribution Across the Zone
Highlight intercepts from the programme include SM-26-153, which returned 20.0 metres grading 1.51 g/t Au, including 5.0 metres of 3.78 g/t Au, and SM-26-151, which returned 8.0 metres of 1.21 g/t Au, including 1.0 metre of 7.58 g/t Au. SM-26-152 returned 19.9 metres of 0.56 g/t Au, and SM-26-160 returned 4.0 metres of 1.28 g/t Au alongside 1.0 metre of 4.29 g/t Au. Four holes returned only weakly elevated gold values, and SM-26-156 returned 14.0 metres grading 0.102 g/t Au, illustrating variability within the zone. Five 2025 surface grab samples from pit material averaged 6.72 g/t Au, though the company cautions grab samples are selective and may not be representative.
Internal Funding and Path Toward a Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate
Canuc states that exploration at the East Sudbury Project is internally supported, with the company receiving revenue from eight producing natural gas wells at its MidTex Energy Project in West Texas and a 4% net smelter royalty on gold production from the Scadding Gold Tailings Project. Four additional holes drilled at the western end of the pit area are awaiting assay results. The company states its objective is to include Zone 2 in the maiden mineral resource estimate for the East Sudbury Project, which it currently expects to release later in 2026. No mineral resource or mineral reserve has been established on the property to date.
