Super Copper Corp. (CSE: CUPR) has announced the commencement of diamond drilling at its Cordillera Cobre Project in the Atacama Region of Chile, marking a significant operational milestone for the exploration-stage company. The maiden Phase 1 program contemplates up to 15 diamond drill holes totalling approximately 5,000 metres, focused on the El Alto copper target. Drilling is under way on a 24-hour, double-shift basis, with the first hole, DH26CC-001, already collared and advancing. Investors may be watching closely as the program represents the first drill test of geophysical targets defined through systematic surface work conducted between 2025 and 2026.
Key Points
- Super Copper Corp. (CSE: CUPR | OTCQB: CUPPF | FSE: N60) has commenced its maiden diamond drill program at Cordillera Cobre, Chile.
- Phase 1 targets up to 5,000 metres across up to 15 holes at the El Alto copper target, with first hole DH26CC-001 already in progress.
- The track-mounted rig is advancing at approximately 50 metres every 24 hours; El Alto features a chargeability corridor extending over 800 metres in strike length.
- Investors should watch for assay results as core is submitted to an accredited independent laboratory once compiled and interpreted.
El Alto Target Defined by Two Years of Systematic Geophysical Work
El Alto is a copper target characterised by hydrothermal breccias, calcite-quartz stockwork veining, and copper oxide mineralisation within a northeast-trending structural corridor northeast of Copiapó. Between 2025 and 2026, Super Copper completed surface sampling, ground magnetics, induced polarisation chargeability surveying, and 3D magnetic vector inversion modelling across the target area. This work defined coincident chargeability and magnetic anomalies extending over more than 800 metres of strike — the geophysical thesis that Phase 1 drilling is now designed to systematically test. The company notes that mineralisation hosted on nearby properties is not necessarily indicative of mineralisation on its own property.
First Drill Hole DH26CC-001 Advancing Around the Clock at El Alto
Drilling contractor Visión Perforaciones SpA is operating a track-mounted diamond core rig with a depth capacity of over 1,000 metres. The first hole, DH26CC-001, has been collared at an azimuth of 040° and a dip of −50°, planned to approximately 400 metres with flexibility to extend based on geological observations. The rig is advancing at approximately 50 metres every 24 hours on a continuous double-shift schedule. All required regulatory notifications, including filings with SERNAGEOMIN, are confirmed in place, and drill platforms and access works were completed ahead of drilling commencement.
QA/QC Protocols and Independent Laboratory Analysis Overseen by APEX Geoscience
Drill core is being logged, photographed, and sampled on site under quality assurance and quality control protocols overseen by APEX Geoscience Ltd. Samples will be submitted to an accredited independent laboratory for analysis, with assay results to be reported once received, compiled, and interpreted. The scientific and technical content of the announcement has been reviewed and approved by Michael B. Dufresne, M.Sc., P.Geo., P.Geol., of APEX Geoscience Ltd., acting as an independent Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101. The company also noted the nearby Calcite Hill target as a contingent follow-up drilling area, subject to Phase 1 outcomes.
