Super Copper Corp. (CSE: CUPR) has announced that its maiden drilling program at the El Alto target of the Cordillera Cobre Project in Atacama, Chile, has intersected visible copper mineralisation in all four initial diamond drill holes. Copper sulphides, including chalcocite, covellite, and locally bornite, were logged in three of the four holes. The results are described as supporting a structurally controlled geological model, with assay results representing the program's next key milestone for investors watching the project's progress.
Key Points
- Super Copper Corp. (CSE: CUPR) (OTCQB: CUPPF) (FSE: N60)
- Visible copper minerals logged in all four initial holes of the Cordillera Cobre maiden drill program at El Alto, Atacama, Chile
- Approximately 2,348 m drilled across four completed holes; DH26CC-005 in progress and logged to 413.78 m as of September 29, 2026; deepest completed hole, DH26CC-003, reached 593.2 m with ten copper occurrences from approximately 30 m to 581 m depth
- Investors will be watching for laboratory assay results from the first three holes, which have been submitted or are in preparation
Copper Sulphides and Native Copper Logged Across Three Drill Platforms at El Alto
The four initial holes were drilled from three separate platforms within El Alto's volcanic sequence. Chalcocite-bearing veinlets were identified in DH26CC-002 and DH26CC-004, while covellite was logged in DH26CC-003. Native copper was noted in DH26CC-004, including disseminated occurrences within a tuff unit at 356–360 m depth. DH26CC-001 intersected chrysocolla and cuprite in a veined and brecciated zone at 284.82–288.70 m. The company notes that all visual observations are preliminary and that grades, continuity, and economic significance have not yet been established pending laboratory assay confirmation.
Correlating Host Units Between Separated Holes Shapes the Structural Model
A key geological observation from the program is the identification of similar native-copper-bearing tuff units at comparable depths in both DH26CC-003 (356.06–360.20 m) and DH26CC-004 (357.13–362.57 m), with the two collars approximately 500 m apart. The company states this provides a marker horizon for testing the repetition of favourable stratigraphic units between holes. The broader El Alto target contains a chargeability corridor extending more than 800 m, as previously reported. The company interprets the setting as potentially distal to an iron oxide–copper–gold system, though a continuous copper-bearing strike length has not yet been established.
Assay Program and QA/QC Protocols Underway at ALS Laboratory
Core logging, photography, and sampling are conducted by APEX Geoscience Ltd. under chain-of-custody procedures. Half-core samples from the first three holes have been submitted or are in preparation for analysis at ALS, with methods including 48-element four-acid digestion and fire assay for gold. Certified reference materials, blanks, and duplicates are inserted at approximately 20% of the sample stream. The qualified person for the technical disclosure is Michael Dufresne, MSc, P.Geol., P.Geo., President of APEX Geoscience Ltd., independent of the company. The immediate share price impact was not clear from available public information.
