Mueller Iodine Extraction Process Validates 99.8% Purity Production from Anadarko Basin Water
Voyageur's Houston research and development team successfully demonstrated its proprietary patent-pending Mueller iodine extraction process in laboratory conditions, achieving 99.8% purity iodine sourced from Anadarko Basin produced water. The release states these results provided the technical confirmation required for Bayer to advance the program. The transportable pilot plant is described as nearing completion and is scheduled to enter field operation this fall. According to the announcement, Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR), a global engineering and construction firm, has been supporting Voyageur with engineering, thermodynamic modelling, and project planning, with work progressing on schedule.
Bayer Funding Structure and Fluor FEL-3 Feasibility Study Timeline
Under the agreement dated February 10, 2026, Bayer committed a total of USD $2,350,000 to Voyageur in non-dilutive funding. Following the initial USD $350,000 paid on March 31, 2026, and now USD $1,000,000 in Milestone Payment I, Voyageur has received USD $1,350,000 to date. The disclosure states this capital will allow Fluor to complete the FEL-3 feasibility study once the pilot plant is operational and field data are available. A remaining Milestone Payment II of USD $1,000,000 is scheduled to be released upon completion of that study. The FEL-2 phase is expected to require approximately four to five months, followed by FEL-3 of approximately seven to nine months.
Proposed 1,000-Tonne Iodine Production Capacity and Potential Bayer Offtake Agreement
The project proposes annual iodine production of 1,000 tonnes, with a staged rollout beginning at 200 tonnes per year. The announcement notes that subject to successful feasibility study completion, Bayer and Voyageur may consider advancing into a second phase to negotiate a long-term offtake supply agreement. CEO Brent Willis stated the collaboration is central to building a vertically integrated North American supply chain for radiology drugs, complementing the company's Frances Creek barium project and planned drug manufacturing capabilities. The global contrast media market is estimated at approximately USD $7.06 billion, according to the release.
