Key Highlights

  • ACCO Brands (NYSE:ACCO) reported Q3 2026 adjusted EPS of USD 0.28, against USD 0.21 a year earlier, while reported diluted EPS climbed to USD 0.12 from USD 0.04 in the October 29 company release.
  • Net Tariff refunds contributed USD 15.1 million to operating income, or USD 0.11 per share, so adjusted EPS without them would be about USD 0.17, our own arithmetic on two published numbers.
  • Third-quarter net sales reached USD 380.3 million, down 0.9%, while comparable sales fell 6.2% as Demand for technology peripherals softened in both segments.
  • Net Debt dropped to USD 706.5 million from USD 795.3 million a year earlier, leaving Leverage at 3.6 times, with year-end leverage guided to about 3.5 times.

Tariff Refunds Carry Much of the Quarter's Profit Gain

ACCO Brands (NYSE:ACCO) makes office, school and technology accessory products, and its third-quarter results arrived on October 29, 2026. Adjusted EPS climbed to USD 0.28 while adjusted EBITDA advanced 21.0% to USD 55.4 million. Both measures embed USD 15.1 million in net tariff refunds, which management credited with adding 400 basis points to adjusted operating margin. Strip out the refunds and adjusted EPS lands near USD 0.17 by our calculation, below the prior-year USD 0.21. Refunds repay duties paid in earlier periods, so they flatter one quarter without forming a recurring Earnings base. Readers should therefore separate the operating trend from this one-time lift, because the two point in different directions.

Comparable Sales Decline Hidden Under a Higher Profit Figure

Third-quarter net sales of USD 380.3 million slipped 0.9%, and comparable sales dropped 6.2% as technology peripheral demand weakened in both Business segments. Reported diluted EPS nearly tripled to USD 0.12, a rise that cost control and the refund both help explain. Net debt fell to USD 706.5 million from USD 795.3 million, and leverage stood at 3.6 times. Published market data put the shares at USD 5.51, up 6.07%, but the session date is unconfirmed and market Capitalization was not verified.

Trust Acquisition, Dividend and the Guidance Range

The Trust Acquisition closed on October 1, 2026 without a disclosed price, and the company expects it to lift technology peripheral sales toward roughly USD 500 million on a pro forma basis. Full-year adjusted EPS is guided to USD 0.98 to USD 1.02, including USD 0.12 from refunds, alongside free Cash Flow of about USD 100 million and sales growth of 4.0% to 6.0% that includes one quarter of Trust sales. A quarterly dividend of USD 0.075 is payable December 9, 2026 to holders of record on November 20, 2026. No shares were repurchased in 2026 through the quarter, compared with USD 15.1 million a year earlier. Published data showing 61.71% one-year EPS growth could not be matched to a filing, so it is not relied on here.

Where Things Stand

Only partly. Adjusted EPS reached USD 0.28 against USD 0.21 a year earlier, yet USD 0.11 of that came from tariff refunds, and comparable sales fell 6.2%. Cost control and lower debt helped, and the Trust deal adds scale in a category the company itself said is under industry-wide strain. ACCO Brands (NYSE:ACCO) will need comparable sales to stabilize and leverage to reach about 3.5 times by year end, with the December 9 dividend payment as the next dated item. The Trust purchase price was not disclosed, so its return on the deal cannot yet be judged.
