Brompton Energy Split Corp. Class A shares (TSX:ESP) pay a targeted C$0.10 per share each month, which looks large against a Market Price of C$7.00 on 30 October 2026, as shown on Brompton Funds' product page. The same page gives a Class A net asset value of C$7.20 for 29 October 2026.

Latest payout and dates

Brompton's product page lists C$0.10 per Class A share with a Record Date of 30 October 2026 and a payment date of 9 November 2026. Its 23 September release confirmed the same amount for record date 30 September, paid 8 October, and its 23 June release confirmed it for record date 30 June, paid 9 July.

The distribution table on the page is incomplete: it omits several 2025 months and the December 2025 entry, although the monthly amount in every row shown and in each release is C$0.10.

Yield measures

Using a lookback of ex-dates from 31 October 2025 to 30 October 2026, twelve monthly payments of C$0.10 give C$1.20. That is a trailing regular Yield of 17.14 per cent at C$7.00, matching the manager's page. No special distribution or return-of-capital detail was found.

The indicated annualised yield is the same C$1.20 run rate, also 17.14 per cent. It is a target, not a commitment.

Coverage test and sustainability

Brompton's footnote says no Class A distribution is paid if preferred distributions are in arrears or if, after the payment, net asset value per unit would be below C$15.00. Unit NAV was C$17.26 on 29 October 2026, which leaves a cushion of about C$2.26 per unit. That is narrower than for the bank-focused Brompton funds, so a sharp fall in energy share prices could bring the test into view.

The annual distribution of C$1.20 equals about 17 per cent of Class A NAV. Distributions in excess of portfolio income and option premiums are funded from capital, which erodes NAV unless markets rise. The shares were priced about three per cent below NAV on the quoted date. Preferred shareholders rank ahead of Class A holders for the quarterly preferred payment of C$0.18125 per share, declared on 23 June 2026, so those obligations are met first.

Investors weighing the yield should also remember that the fund holds a concentrated energy portfolio, so Commodity swings feed directly into NAV and, through the unit test, into whether Class A distributions can continue at the current level.

Term and size

The fund's Maturity date is 30 March 2032, subject to extension by the board, and the non-concurrent retraction right date is 30 March 2027. Total Assets were about C$62 million at 30 September 2026, a small base that can affect Liquidity and trading spreads.
