Warrant Accounting Lifts a Quarter Weighed Down by Operations
Centrus Energy (NYSE:LEU) released third-quarter results on November 4, 2026. GAAP net income reached USD 31.6 million, which was USD 1.53 basic and USD 1.41 diluted per share, an improvement of USD 27.7 million. Management pointed to a USD 46.4 million gain from re-measuring warrant liabilities and USD 4.0 million of extra Investment income, offset partly by a USD 9.0 million smaller tax benefit and a higher gross loss. Revenue totaled USD 55.5 million. The LEU segment fell 29% to USD 31.8 million on reduced uranium volume, though separative work revenue gained USD 3.4 million. Technical Solutions revenue dropped 21% to USD 23.7 million, with USD 10.2 million of that decline tied to the HALEU Operation Contract.
Gross Loss Widens as DOE Funding and the Piketon Lease Pose Risks
The gross loss came to USD 10.6 million. The LEU segment lost USD 6.9 million and Technical Solutions lost USD 3.7 million, against a USD 3.5 million profit for Technical Solutions a year earlier. About USD 0.8 billion of Technical Solutions backlog depends on the HALEU Operation Contract, and the filing notes that the proposed fiscal 2027 DOE budget omits further funding for it, while DOE does not currently plan to exercise additional options. The release also flags the need to secure a long-term Piketon lease extension as a risk, which could bring a large non-cash charge if it falls through.
Centrifuge Progress, the Westerman Deal and the 2026 Outlook
Centrus said it started shipping centrifuges from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, locked in contracts with every critical Supply chain partner and finished its first certified-for-construction package, all ahead of year-end goals. Its 16-centrifuge cascade is producing HALEU for commercial customers, and the CEO argued the recent Westerman Acquisition reduces build-out risk. Guidance for 2026 calls for total revenue of USD 450 million to USD 500 million, Capital deployment of USD 350 million to USD 500 million and at least 175 net new hires at Piketon, up from 100. The release offers no stock reaction or consensus comparison.
Where Things Stand
Not as an operating profit. Centrus Energy (NYSE:LEU) booked USD 31.6 million on a USD 46.4 million non-cash warrant gain, while its adjusted result was a USD 9.4 million loss and revenue fell 26%. The longer case rests on a USD 7.0 billion backlog and the centrifuge build-out, both tied to operational milestones, financing, the Piketon lease and DOE funding. Watch capital deployment against the USD 350 million to USD 500 million range and any change to the HALEU Operation Contract.
