Rare Sleep and Oncology Lines Power a Record $1.243 Billion Quarter
Jazz Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:JAZZ) released quarter figures on Nov 2, 2026, covering the three months through Sep 30, 2026. Total revenue hit a high of $1.243 billion, roughly 10% above the $1.126 billion from a year earlier. Product sales accounted for $1.197 billion, while royalties and contract income added $46.5 million, and nine-month revenue reached $3.52 billion compared with $3.07 billion.
The Irish-registered company creates rare-disease medicines spanning sleep, seizure and cancer treatments. Sales of Xywav climbed 12%, reaching $483 million, following roughly 425 net new patients, and Epidiolex contributed $295 million. Leadership linked Epidiolex's slower gain to harsher gross-to-net comparisons along with a thinner inventory build.
Ziihera's Early Uptake, Zepzelca Momentum and the Modeyso Timeline
Ziihera brought in $21 million during its debut quarter, treating HER2-positive metastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma as a first-line therapy. Leadership reported that new-account orders tripled in September relative to August and raised its peak sales potential estimate to between $3 billion and $5 billion. Zepzelca sales jumped 32% to $104 million, and Modeyso has produced close to $200 million since its debut.
Leadership warned that Modeyso sales could remain modest until the overall survival readout from the Phase III ACTION study arrives during the first half of 2027. A rival product launching in 2027 was also flagged as a probable future drag on Zepzelca. Third-quarter U.S. oncology shipments ran 13 weeks, down from 14 the year before, shaving 9 percentage points from domestic oncology growth.
Accounting for the Actio Deal Swings Jazz Into an Operating Deficit Despite Peak Sales
Jazz closed on the Actio deal on Sep 15, 2026, paying $820.0 million after deducting acquired cash, plus up to $500.0 million of potential milestones. The purchase brought in ABS-1230, an investigational KCNT1 blocker in development for uncommon seizure disorders, and the accounts captured $754.2 million of in-process Research and Development expense tied to the acquisition. Operating results therefore fell to a $413.4 million loss, and the net loss reached $483.4 million.
Management's non-GAAP loss per share figure was $3.88, and without the charge, non-GAAP EPS would have come in at $7.15. SG&A totaled $407.9 million, down from $530.6 million a year earlier, given litigation settlement charges of $151.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Non-GAAP gross Margin shrank by 110 basis points, reflecting Royalty costs and the transfer of Manufacturing technology.
Forecast Range Rises as Initial ABS-1230 Patient Data Approaches
Non-GAAP gross margin guidance improved 50 basis points, now between 90.5% and 91.5%. The 2026 revenue forecast was raised and narrowed to a window between $4.775 billion and $4.85 billion, implying roughly 13% growth at the midpoint, while rare sleep revenue is projected between $2.125 billion and $2.175 billion. Operating Cash Flow across nine months reached $1.3 billion, and the company sold convertible notes worth $1.25 billion during the quarter.
The chief commercial officer intends to retire when a replacement is chosen. Early ABS-1230 patient findings are slated for a medical gathering this quarter, and an FDA decision on a new Epidiolex capsule is set for Apr 16, 2027.
