Key Highlights
- Operations are expected to run into 2028 on the USD 444.0 million of cash and cash equivalents held at September 30, 2026, according to management.
- Nine-month losses narrowed to USD 172.4 million from USD 194.0 million, pushing the accumulated Deficit to USD 995.0 million.
- The rolling application should be wrapped up about two weeks after the November 3, 2026 call, and the voucher sets a one to two month FDA review target.
- At week six, the two Phase 3 studies COMP005 and COMP006 showed MADRS advantages of 3.6 and 3.8 points, respectively.
Rolling Application Nears Completion Under a Priority Voucher
Compass Pathways (NASDAQ:CMPS) filed its Quarterly Report and hosted its third-quarter call on November 3, 2026. The biotechnology company is advancing COMP360, a psilocybin therapy for treatment-resistant depression, and it has no approved products or revenue. Leadership said the rolling new drug application will be completed within two weeks, and the FDA awarded a National Priority Voucher in April 2026 that targets a review of one to two months. A 2027 launch is the goal, and cash on hand should support the company through launch and into 2028. Each American depositary share represents one ordinary share. The FDA decision itself is still pending.
Phase 3 Efficacy Versus the Uncontrolled Open-Label Data
COMP005 found that one 25 mg dose beat placebo by 3.6 MADRS points at six weeks, with a p-value below 0.001. COMP006 reported a 3.8 point edge for two 25 mg doses over the 1 mg dose. In the September 2026 open-label data from COMP005 Part C, patients given an extra dose averaged a 13-point decline from baseline at week 52, and 40% to 45% responded, with about 30% in remission across the six weeks following dosing. Since Part C lacked a placebo group, those response rates cannot be read as controlled results. The company puts the United States treatment-resistant depression population at 4 million, and says fewer than 3% of them receive SPRAVATO, the sole approved drug in that setting. Management further describes a rapid onset within 24 hours and durability that could extend to 12 months, though these remain company characterizations, not regulatory conclusions.
Cash Burn, Policy Exposure and Launch Execution Risk
Operating losses will widen as the filing is finished and launch preparations ramp up, and management expects more funding will be needed over the longer term. Earlier Capital came from share and ADS sales, an at-the-market program and a Hercules loan. An April 18, 2026 executive order aims to speed review of psychedelic therapies, yet the filing cautions that policy shifts, DEA licensing or FDA staffing changes could still delay or complicate progress. Company Market research suggests about 90% of interventional psychiatrists would prescribe COMP360 in its first year, a survey view rather than sales evidence. A Phase 2b/3 trial in post-traumatic stress disorder is actively enrolling, and the company is weighing other label expansions.
Where Things Stand
On management's estimate, USD 444.0 million is enough to reach an FDA decision and fund launch into 2028, though approval itself is not assured. Compass Pathways (NASDAQ:CMPS) has two positive Phase 3 trials and a voucher aimed at a one to two month review. The weak spots are that no product is approved, losses are rising into launch, and the long-term durability claims rest on an uncontrolled open-label section. Watch for the completed filing, FDA communications and any financing.
