GB Group PLC

GB Group PLC (LSE: GBG) is an FTSE AIM UK 50 index company which provides identity data intelligence products and services helping organizations recognize and verify all elements of an individual's identity at key interactions in their business processes. The Company's segments include location, identity and fraud. The location segment includes address lookup, verification and capture; e-mail validation; phone verification, and data maintenance services. The identity segment includes document verification, data verification and identity investigation services.

Key Recommendation Rationale – Sell at GBX 211.20

  • Deteriorating Net Revenue Retention (NRR): GBG's NRR fell sharply to 97.8%, down from 101.4%. Below 100%, customer contraction now exceeds expansion revenue. Despite cited one-offs, the 360bps drop raises caution on underlying stickiness and cross-sell success.
  • Elevated Exceptional and Normalised Costs Mask Underlying Profit Volatility: Statutory profit fell 27%, while adjusted profit rose 2%. £22.8m in exceptional items, including amortisation and transformation costs, obscure underlying performance. Acquisition-related drag and cash costs consume free cash flow.
  • Cash Conversion Lags Behind Profitability, Creating Leverage Sensitivity: Cash conversion at 85.8% remains below the 100% software benchmark. Net debt rose £18.1m to £66.6m, with leverage increasing to 1.0x. Operational cash is not keeping pace with stated profitability, limiting flexibility.
  • Americas Turnback Costs Are Pressuring Short-Term Segment Growth: The Americas remain a financial drag, with investment in turnaround teams yet to return to growth. Higher operating expenses for a marginally negative segment create near-term misalignment between resource allocation and revenue contribution.

Valuation Methodology: Price/ Earnings Approach

 Conclusion

GBG's NRR fell to 97.8% (below 100%), signaling customer contraction. Statutory profit dropped 27% due to £22.8m exceptional costs. Cash conversion at 85.8% lags software benchmarks, with leverage rising to 1.0x. Americas turnaround costs pressure near-term growth and resource alignment.

GBG appears overvalued. For conducting the valuation, the following peers have been considered: Dotdigital Group PLC (LSE: DOTD), Gama Communications PLC (LSE: GAMA), etc

Given its current trading levels, the recent strategic investments and partnerships, relative valuation, and associated risks, it is prudent to exit the stock at the current levels.

Hence, a ‘Sell’ recommendation is given on the stock at the Current Market Price of GBX 211.20 as of 09 April 2026, at 08:15 AM GMT+1.
