Overview:

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX: AQN) headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, is a diversified international utility company. Through its operating business, Liberty, AQN delivers regulated electricity, water, and natural gas utility services to over 1.2 million customer connections across North America, including the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and Chile.

AQN has been a part of the ‘Growth Portfolio’ since 10 Sep 2024, however, considering decent rally in the share price of the stock, an ‘Exit’ is recommended from the stock at the price of CAD 8.350, (as on 9th May 2025).

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (TSX: AQN) 

New Entry Case: Whitecap Resources Inc. 

Overview:

Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX: WCP)  is a Calgary-based Canadian energy company specializing in the acquisition, development, and management of petroleum and natural gas assets. The company focuses on properties with significant discovered petroleum initially in place and low current recovery factors, primarily producing light, sweet crude oil. To efficiently extract hydrocarbons, Whitecap employs advanced techniques such as horizontal drilling and multistage fracturing.

Technical Analysis: On the daily chart, WCP prices are trading above a support, indicating positive momentum. The 14-period Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at approximately 48.48, reflecting a buying interest. Additionally, prices are positioned above the 20-period Simple Moving Average (SMA), which could serve as a support level. The key support for stock is at CAD 6.75, while the critical resistance level is at CAD 8.89.

 

Considering the above mentioned factors, technical analysis, support & resistance levels, an ‘Entry’ is recommended in the ‘Growth Portfolio’ at the closing market price of CAD 8.04, as on (as on 9th May 2025).
