Dug Technology Limited (ASX: DUG)

Dug Technology Limited (ASX: DUG) is a tech-based company that delivers hardware and software solutions for the technology and resource sectors in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. Their offerings include high-performance computing as a service, data center cooling solutions, scientific data analysis services, and DUG Insight.

Recommendation Rationale – SELL at AUD 1.235

  • Trading Around Resistance: DUG’s share price surpassed its R2 level recommended on 16 April 2025.
  • Financial Performance: Revenue for the period (1HFY25) was USD 28.7 million, a 4% decline compared to same period last year. Services revenue decreased by 3% YoY, primarily due to a shift toward Elastic MP-FWI Imaging pilot projects. HPCaaS revenue fell 46% YoY in 1HFY25, as a major client transitioned from committed to on-demand computing. EBITDA dropped 26% YoY, reflecting investments in new regions. The company reported a net loss after tax of USD 3.9 million in 1HFY25, and an operating cash outflow of USD 2.2 million.
  • Overvalued Multiples: On a forward 12-month basis - key valuation multiple (Price/Earnings) is higher than median of the Technology Sector.
  • Emerging Risks: Intense market competition in the application software sector, coupled with inflationary pressures on operating expenses, poses significant risks to the company's business. These challenges may impact profitability and growth potential, necessitating a strategic focus on innovation and cost management to navigate this competitive landscape effectively.

DUG Daily Chart

Valuation Methodology: EV/Sales Approach (FY June'26E) (Illustrative)

Considering the shift towards Elastic MP-FWI Imaging pilot project, losses in 1HFY25, decline in services revenue, inflationary pressure, etc., the company might trade at some discount to its peers. For valuation, few peers like Bravura Solutions Ltd (ASX: BVS), Integrated Research Ltd (ASX: IRI), Cosol Ltd (ASX: COS), and others have been considered.

Considering that the stock has surpassed its R2 level, macroeconomic uncertainty, current trading level, and risks associated, the share price can face consolidation at the current levels. Hence, a ‘Sell’ recommendation is given on the stock at the current market price of AUD 1.235, at 10:05 AM, AEST, as of 5 May 2025.
