AuMEGA Metals Ltd (TSXV: AUM) has announced the completion of its initial diamond drilling program at the Isle aux Morts Granite and adjoining Cape Ray West target area along the Cape Ray Shear Zone in Newfoundland and Labrador. The program comprised 9 drill holes totalling approximately 2,087 metres — marking the first drill test of any kind at the Isle aux Morts Granite. Assay results remain pending, and the drill rig has since been mobilised to the Bunker Hill project area, where drilling is already underway.
Key Points
- AuMEGA Metals Ltd (TSXV: AUM | ASX: AAM | OTCQB: AUMMF)
- Initial diamond drilling at Isle aux Morts Granite and Cape Ray West completed: 9 holes, approximately 2,087 metres total
- All assay results pending; the company expects results progressively over coming weeks, with a return to Cape Ray planned for mid-Q4 2026
- Investors will be watching for assay results and updates from the active Bunker Hill drilling program
First Drill Program at Isle aux Morts Granite Tests Multiple Gold and Magmatic Targets
AuMEGA completed seven holes within the Isle aux Morts Granite, testing targets across the intrusive core, its western flank, and the contact between the granite and surrounding sedimentary rocks. Most holes were designed to approximately 200 metres depth, though two holes targeting the core of the intrusion were extended to 351 metres and 372 metres respectively to provide deeper coverage of an interpreted magmatic-hydrothermal system. The program was guided by prior geological mapping, geophysics, and surficial geochemistry that identified anomalous bismuth, molybdenum, and copper in till sampling.
Early Bird and Window Glass Hill Targets Also Drilled for the First Time
The program also included a single extensional hole at Window Glass Hill, testing northeast extensions of the existing Mineral Resource and a possible repeat of an ore shoot at depth. Additionally, AuMEGA completed the first hole at the Early Bird target, located 1.2 kilometres west of the company's BP deposit. Early Bird was identified from last year's surficial geochemical survey, which delivered the highest gold-in-till result of that survey. The target features an interpreted north-east plunging antiform hinge, coincident magnetic destruction, anomalous gold and base metals in till, and mapped chalcopyrite-bearing quartz veins at surface. Assays from both holes are pending.
Bunker Hill Drilling Commences Across Three High-Priority Target Areas
With the Cape Ray drilling phase complete, the rig has been mobilised to Bunker Hill, where AuMEGA is testing three distinct priority targets: a previously undrilled polymetallic Southeast Base Metals Target defined by lead, silver, copper, and zinc anomalism; the Branch Fault Corridor, a structurally controlled gold target supported by coincident gold-in-till and multi-element anomalism; and Bunker Hill West, where secondary structures intersect the principal Cape Ray Shear Zone. The company states that drill sequencing will remain flexible to accommodate geological observations as the program progresses.
