Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. (CSE: GCC) has announced that planning is underway for the next stage of drilling at its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property near Hixon, British Columbia. The program follows the company's inaugural NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate and will combine step-out and infill drilling to expand known mineralization and increase data density. The announcement signals a push to potentially upgrade portions of the Inferred resource to the Indicated category, a milestone that investors in junior gold explorers typically monitor closely.
Key Points
- Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. (CSE: GCC; OTC: GCCFF; FSE: 3TZ) is a Vancouver-based gold exploration company active in central British Columbia.
- The company is planning step-out and infill drilling at the Halo and North Hixon zones of its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property following its inaugural NI 43-101 MRE.
- Step-out holes are planned at 100-metre spacing; infill drilling targets approximately 50-metre centres in priority areas to support resource category upgrades.
- Investors may be watching whether the additional drilling data supports a future upgrade of Inferred ounces to the Indicated category in a revised resource model.
Inaugural MRE Sets Stage for Expansion at Halo and North Hixon Zones
President and CEO J. Frank Callaghan stated in the release that the inaugural MRE, reported in a news release dated September 30, 2026, outlined an Indicated Mineral Resource of 6.2 million tonnes grading 0.763 g/t AuEq — containing 152,000 ounces of gold equivalent — and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 42.3 million tonnes grading 0.600 g/t AuEq, containing 815,000 ounces of gold equivalent, both at a 0.3 g/t AuEq cut-off. Callaghan noted this was achieved with less than 8,500 metres of drilling across only 24 drill holes along a 1,150-metre strike length within a single 3.2-kilometre geological corridor.
Drilling Strategy Targets Both Deposit Growth and Data Density
The upcoming program will pursue two simultaneous objectives at the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property. Hundred-metre step-out holes at the Halo and North Hixon zones are designed to test extensions of mineralisation beyond the boundaries identified in the inaugural MRE. Concurrently, infill drilling at approximately 50-metre centres will increase data density within priority portions of the deposit. The company states that assay and geological data from both components will be incorporated into future resource model updates, which could support reclassifying portions of the current Inferred resource into the higher-confidence Indicated category.
Property Scale and Corridor Potential Provide Broader Context
The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property encompasses 96,183 hectares along a 90-kilometre gold trend in central British Columbia, a region with documented placer gold production from more than 101 creeks. Callaghan's statement notes that the mineralisation defined to date occupies only one of five geological corridors within the company's permitted 789-hectare area. The property borders and is partially interwoven with Osisko Gold Group Inc.'s Cariboo Gold Project and lies along the Spanish and Eureka thrust fault corridor. The technical information in the release was reviewed and approved by qualified person Sue Bird, P.Eng., registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
