Inspiration Mining Corp. (CSE: ISP) has announced an arm's-length agreement to acquire a 100% interest in the CH-98 phosphate property in Québec's Lac-Saint-Jean region from Beauce Gold Fields Inc. (TSXV: BGF). The deal positions Inspiration in an established phosphate district alongside projects from Arianne Phosphate and First Phosphate Corp. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals, and the company plans to commence a NI 43-101 technical report on the property. Investors may be watching closely given phosphorus's status on Canada's Critical Minerals List since 2024.
Key Points
- Inspiration Mining Corp. (CSE: ISP | OTC: ISPNF | WKN: A40GPX)
- Inspiration has agreed to acquire a 100% interest in the CH-98 phosphate property in Québec's Lac-Saint-Jean region from Beauce Gold Fields Inc.
- Consideration comprises 10,000,000 common shares to BGF and 1,500,000 common shares to an arm's-length finder as a finder's fee, both subject to regulatory approvals
- Investors should watch for regulatory approval, NI 43-101 report commencement, and planned exploration program updates
CH-98 Property Location and Geological Setting
The CH-98 property covers 111 mining claims across approximately 6,164 hectares, accessible via the Lac Froid gravel road within Québec's Lac-Saint-Jean anorthositic suite. BGF previously reported outcrops of granoblastic anorthosite containing coarse apatite, with apatite-bearing gabbro-norite mapped in the eastern sector. A northeast-southwest-trending fault corridor has been identified as a possible structural influence on apatite concentration. The property's proximity to Arianne Phosphate's Lac à Paul project and First Phosphate Corp.'s Bégin-Lamarche deposit underscores the region's geological significance for phosphate development in North America.
Rock Sampling and Preliminary Metallurgical Results at CH-98
BGF previously reported that a rock sample collected at the CH-98-61 showing returned 8.07% P₂O₅, consistent with Québec government sampling conducted in 1998 that reported 8.59% P₂O₅ at the same outcrop. Preliminary flotation test work conducted at COREM laboratory on material from CH-98-61 produced a concentrate grading up to 38.9% P₂O₅ at 93.4% recovery under the tested conditions. The release notes these results do not establish average grade, continuity, economic viability, or commercial-scale recoverability across the property, and that further evaluation will be required. Technical information was reviewed by qualified person Christian Tremblay, M.Sc., P.Geo.
Strategic Rationale Tied to Canada's Critical Minerals Agenda
Phosphorus was added to Canada's Critical Minerals List in 2024, and Québec added apatite to its list of critical and strategic minerals that same year. Phosphate is used in fertilizer production and can serve as a feedstock for phosphoric acid and lithium iron phosphate battery materials. The release explicitly cautions that the suitability of CH-98 material for any particular end use, including purified phosphoric acid or battery applications, remains to be established through additional technical and economic studies. Inspiration plans to build an exploration program to assess the size, continuity, and metallurgical characteristics of the apatite mineralisation.
