LithiumBank Resources Corp. (TSXV: LBNK) (OTCQX: LBNKF) announced that Stantec Consulting Ltd. has completed its environmental desktop review for the Boardwalk Lithium Brine Project in Alberta and has mobilised field teams to begin baseline environmental surveys. The program covers groundwater, vegetation, wetlands, soils, and wildlife, forming the evidentiary foundation for an Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) application required to construct and operate Boardwalk. The move represents a concrete step in LithiumBank's regulatory pathway, running in parallel with an ongoing SLB Feasibility Study and Front-End Engineering Design, as the company targets a project execution timeline for late 2027.
Key Points
- LithiumBank Resources Corp. (TSXV: LBNK) (OTCQX: LBNKF) (FSE: HT9)
- Stantec has mobilised field teams at the Boardwalk Lithium Brine Project to conduct baseline environmental surveys underpinning an EPEA permitting application
- Boardwalk hosts an estimated 5.2 Mt Measured & Indicated and 2.8 Mt Inferred Lithium Carbonate Equivalent resource at an average grade of 81.6 mg/L; a preliminary economic assessment outlined a pre-tax NPV (8%) of US$3.7 billion
- Investors may be watching the EPEA submission target of mid-2027 and the SLB Feasibility Study and FEED conclusions expected mid to late 2027
Stantec Field Surveys Underway Across the Boardwalk Project Area
Following completion of its environmental desktop study — which reviewed publicly available spatial and environmental datasets to identify baseline conditions and data gaps — Stantec has deployed field teams across the Boardwalk project area in west-central Alberta, approximately 15 kilometres south of Valleyview. Teams are conducting wetland identification and delineation under the Alberta Wetland Classification System, wildlife and protected-species surveys, soil characterisation to support reclamation planning, and groundwater and surface-water assessments. The release states that field surveys are expected to continue through late 2026.
EPEA Application and Parallel Regulatory Filings on Track for Mid-2027
Survey results will be incorporated into technical data reports supporting the EPEA application, as well as a phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment and a Historical Resources Act application already underway with Stantec. LithiumBank has indicated an EPEA submission target of mid-2027. The proposed Boardwalk Central Processing Facility is sited within the northeast quarter of Section 34, Township 68, Range 22, W5M, in the Municipal District of Greenview, with the broader project expected to include production and injection wells and underground brine transport pipelines.
Boardwalk Resource Scale and SLB Development Agreement Context
Boardwalk hosts an estimated 5.2 Mt Measured & Indicated and 2.8 Mt Inferred Lithium Carbonate Equivalent resource at an average lithium grade of 81.6 mg/L. A preliminary economic assessment outlined a pre-tax NPV (8%) of US$3.7 billion, though the PEA is preliminary in nature and includes inferred resources that are too speculative to be categorised as mineral reserves. LithiumBank is advancing Boardwalk alongside SLB, which is conducting a Feasibility Study and FEED under a development agreement announced December 22, 2025, with a potential path to commercial production as early as late 2030.
