Sun Life U.S. (TSX:SLF) has partnered with Pasito, anAI-enabled benefits education and communication platform, to enhance the employee enrollment experience. Beginning January 1, 2026, Sun Life group policyholders will be able to access Pasito’s technology, which is designed to simplify the benefits decision-making during an increasingly challenging healthcare environment.

Pasito relies on real-time data integrations with more than 200 payroll administrators nationwide. The platform analyzes employee-specific factors — including financial capacity, dependent needs and eligibility details — to deliver personalized recommendations. By reading benefits documents directly, Pasito presents accurate plan information that helps employees navigate complex choices with greater clarity.

Sun Life U.S. President of Group Benefits Joi Tillman emphasized that many employees struggle to understand supplemental benefits such as disability, accident, or hospital indemnity coverage. These benefits can play a meaningful role in complementing health insurance and improving long-term financial protection, yet they often remain misunderstood. The Pasito integration aims to close this information gap.

Enhancing Benefits Education and Communication

Healthcare costs continue to rise, making benefits selection more important and more complicated for employees. According to LIMRA’s Benefit Employee Attitude Tracker report, more than half of employees feel comfortable understanding core benefits like dental, medical and retirement plans, but fewer than 50 percent feel confident navigating supplemental health products.

Pasito supports benefits education through employer-branded microsites and automated communications tailored to each employee’s profile. These tools link directly to enrollment platforms, helping HR teams manage the flow of information more efficiently throughout the year.

LIMRA’s BEAT data also indicates a strong correlation between effective employer communication and employee confidence: 86 percent of employees who felt their employer communicated benefits well also reported confidence in their enrollment decisions.

A Shared Commitment to Better Decision Support

Pasito CEO Pauline Roteta noted that benefits selection is often stressful for employees, especially when dealing with major life decisions. The partnership reflects a shared mission between Pasito and Sun Life to make benefits easier to understand and more accessible.

Sun Life, which operates globally across multiple markets, managesassetstotaling 1.62 T CAD as of September 30, 2025. In the U.S., the company supports approximately 50 million people through employers, partners and government programs. Its product portfolio includes dental, vision, disability, life, supplemental health and medical stop-loss insurance, supported by more than 8,300 employees nationwide.

With Pasito’s advanced AI capabilities, Sun Life aims to offer clearer guidance, better education, and a more efficient enrollment path for its members.

Sun Life’s decision to integrate with Pasito marks a meaningful step toward simplifying benefits decision-making for employees.
