Makenita Resources Inc. has announced the submission of a drill permit application for its inaugural exploration program at the Hector Silver/Cobalt Property in Ontario. The company plans to initiate drilling in the coming weeks, contingent on regulatory approval.
Located in the Coleman and Gillies Limit Townships within Ontario’s Larder Lake Mining Division, the project area covers 126 contiguous unpatented mineral claims spanning 2,243 hectares. This region, part of the Timiskaming District, is historically recognized for its mineral prospectivity and has seen past exploration activity from notable players in the mining sector, including Teck Resources.
According to Makenita President Jason Gigliotti, the area has become more accessible due to forest fire activity that has cleared previously obstructed zones. This has enabled the company to plan a more comprehensive initial exploration phase. Gigliotti also noted the current market dynamics, including an upward trend in silver prices, as a contextual factor in the project’s timing.
The upcoming drill campaign is expected to focus on identifying mineralized zones within this historically significant geological setting. While no specific drill targets or technical details have been released, the move marks an early-stage exploration effort aimed at understanding the subsurface potential of the Hector Property.
