AtkinsRéalis Group Inc. (TSX: ATRL), a Canadian-headquartered engineering and nuclear services company, has entered into a collaboration with the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, marking a new partnership that brings together technical expertise from motorsport and infrastructure engineering. The announcement was made ahead of the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, where the partnership will be formally launched.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to engage in joint initiatives that include sharing resources such as facilities, technologies, and personnel to support mutual goals. A key element of the collaboration is the development of an engineering academy designed to support knowledge exchange and skills development between both parties.
AtkinsRéalis will contribute experience drawn from several complex engineering sectors, including aerospace, defense, nuclear energy, and advanced design systems. These capabilities will be applied in a motorsport context, where rapid design cycles and performance demands require close coordination between engineering and operations.
The engineering academy being planned under this partnership will serve as a platform for both experienced professionals and emerging talent to collaborate. It aims to provide training opportunities, facilitate innovation, and promote shared learning across disciplines.
Commenting on the partnership, Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of AtkinsRéalis, said that the collaboration represents a convergence of applied engineering in infrastructure with the fast-paced demands of motorsport. "By combining our global expertise with BWT Alpine Formula One Team's pioneering spirit, we're creating a relationship where seasoned engineers and rising talent can grow together, challenge conventions, and deliver real-world impact in performance, sustainability, and technological excellence," he stated.
David Sanchez, Executive Technical Director of the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, noted that engineering is central to the team’s performance. “The wide variety of technology mastered by AtkinsRéalis aligns well with the demands of Formula One. We are excited to begin this new relationship this weekend in Montreal and look forward to what we can achieve together,” Sanchez said.
This partnership also reflects the increasing intersection of motorsport with other high-precision sectors such as energy, defense, and digital engineering. Through this collaboration, both organizations seek to identify areas where methods and technologies developed in one domain can be effectively applied in another, particularly in design optimization, material sciences, and digital systems.
The partnership will begin with visible branding and cooperation at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, where AtkinsRéalis branding will appear alongside Alpine. However, both organizations have indicated that the relationship extends beyond branding to a more integrated form of collaboration that includes capability development and operational support.
