Magellan Aerospace Corporation (TSX: MAL) has entered into a series of long-term agreements (LTAs) with Pratt & Whitney Canada, a division of RTX, extending existing contracts and introducing new manufacturing work through 2034. These agreements include production of complex machined components that will be manufactured at Magellan’s facility in Tumkur, India.
The Tumkur plant, located in the KIADB Industrial Area of Karnataka, will see an increase in operational scope due to the expanded contract commitments. As part of the agreement, Magellan plans to invest in a new machining cell, enhancing the site’s existing capabilities in precision CNC machining and aeroengine component production.
This development signifies an ongoing relationship between the two aerospace companies and reflects continued demand for specialized aerospace components. The new manufacturing work awarded under these agreements is expected to broaden Tumkur’s production portfolio, aligning with its role in supporting international aerospace supply chains.
Magellan’s Tumkur facility is already approved by several major aerospace manufacturers and plays a strategic role in delivering aerostructure and aeroengine assemblies. The addition of new equipment is intended to support the increased workload while maintaining compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Haydn Martin, Vice President of Business Development, Marketing and Contracts at Magellan, commented on the agreements, emphasizing the operational and technical collaboration with Pratt & Whitney Canada. While the announcement includes acknowledgment of Magellan’s performance in past contracts, the primary focus remains on long-term production and engineering execution.
Magellan Aerospace operates globally, providing systems and component solutions to commercial, defense, and space sectors. The company’s facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia support programs for major aerospace and defense OEMs, and the Tumkur site is a growing part of that global network.
