Global Commodity Market Wrap-Up

Global metals markets recorded mixed performance in the week ending 23 October 2026. Gold declined 4.14%, while silver fell 5.86%, reflecting continued sensitivity to US dollar movements, Treasury yields and expectations surrounding Federal Reserve policy. Copper slipped 0.59%, while lead edged up 0.05% and zinc remained broadly neutral, showing limited directional movement. Base metals continue to respond to Chinese industrial demand, manufacturing activity and supply conditions. Upcoming economic releases and changes in global growth expectations will remain important influences on metals market direction.

Energy and agricultural commodities showed varied performance last week. Light Sweet Crude Oil advanced 4.29%, while natural gas declined 9.92%. Soybean futures fell 0.57%, corn decreased 3.85%, and US Sugar No. 11 dropped 2.93%. Crude oil prices remained sensitive to geopolitical tensions and supply concerns following attacks in Saudi Arabia, although prices subsequently eased. Natural gas continued to face changing demand and supply expectations. Agricultural futures remained influenced by harvest progress, weather conditions, export demand and global supply estimates.
