Third-quarter sales rise across all three segments
AptarGroup (NYSE:ATR), which builds drug delivery, dosing and protection systems and also makes dispensing products for consumer brands, released third quarter 2026 results on October 29, 2026. Reported sales grew 6% to $1.02 billion from $961 million in the year-earlier quarter, and core sales advanced 5%.
Closures posted reported growth of 11%, supported by solid Demand for bottled water and concentrates, a recent beverage dispensing closure and condiment sales. Beauty climbed 9% on demand for prestige fragrance, color cosmetics and hair care, and pass throughs of higher input costs contributed as well.
Pharma grew 2%, with core growth of 1%. Excluding the effect of emergency medicine destocking, the company said Pharma core sales rose 8%, aided by central nervous system and pulmonary therapies, nasal decongestants, eye care and dermal delivery.
Russian deconsolidation opens a wide gap between reported and adjusted EPS
During the quarter, AptarGroup deconsolidated its Russian Subsidiary once a government decree placed it under external administration and the company no longer had control. The move produced a $58.0 million loss, which included about $30.0 million of cash held by the subsidiary. The combined pre-tax impact came to $61.2 million.
Reported Net Income was $33 million, or $0.51 per share, versus $1.92 per share a year earlier. The reported effective tax rate was 45.6%, reflecting the non-deductible tax effect of the deconsolidation.
Adjusted EPS of $1.52 landed at the higher end of the company's guidance range. The prior year comparison was $1.62 at comparable exchange rates.
Adjusted EBITDA Margin eases to 21.3% as mix and input costs weigh
Adjusted EBITDA margin came in at 21.3%, compared with 23.2% in the third quarter of 2025. Beauty's adjusted EBITDA margin was 11.4%, down 70 basis points, which the company tied to unfavorable mix and ongoing challenges.
Pharma margins were said to remain at the high end of the long-term target range. Management noted that pass throughs of higher input costs supported Closures core sales growth, showing part of the sales increase reflects pricing.
For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, reported sales increased 8% to $3.03 billion from $2.81 billion, while core sales rose 2%. Reported EPS for the period was $3.00, down 37% from $4.75, and adjusted EPS was $4.13, down 10% from $4.60.
Capital returns and a fourth-quarter guide of $1.39 to $1.47 set the next steps
AptarGroup returned $61 million to shareholders in the third quarter and $272 million year to date through Buybacks and dividends. During the quarter it bought back about 234 thousand shares for $30 million.
The board authorized a quarterly Cash Dividend of $0.50 per share, up from $0.48, payable December 3, 2026. For the fourth quarter, adjusted EPS is guided to $1.39 to $1.47, based on an effective tax rate of 17.5% to 19.5% and a 1.12 euro to dollar exchange rate.
Management expects a strong finish, driven by continued Pharma growth in consumer healthcare and injectables, without the emergency medicine destocking headwind. A conference call was set for October 30, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Central Time.
