Why the company is in focus
BEACN Wizardry & Magic Inc. (TSXV:BECN) is in focus because its latest results show sales falling after a stock-out of its top-selling product, just as it prepares to ship a new headset. The company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under BECN and is based in Victoria, British Columbia.
What the company sells
BEACN sells audio products built around microphone processing technology. Its existing range comprises the BEACN Mic, BEACN Studio, BEACN Mix and BEACN Mix Create. In April 2026 it announced the BEACN Headset, which combines the company's Broadcast Voice DSP microphone processing with a headset and is expected to ship in the third quarter of 2026.
Second-quarter results
In the results published on 28 August 2026 for the period ended 30 June 2026, Revenue for the six months was down 34 per cent and Gross Profit down 28 per cent against the same period of 2025. For the second quarter alone, revenue fell 29 per cent and gross profit fell 18 per cent. The release gives these as percentage changes.
Within the quarter, April revenue was 42 per cent below the prior year, while May and June were each 20 per cent below, suggesting the shortfall narrowed once stock returned. January gross profit had been up 15 per cent before Supply problems intervened.
Why sales fell
Management attributes the decline mainly to inventory availability, a point investors can test against future quarters. The top-selling product ran out in mid-February 2026 after strong Demand through the end of 2025 and production delays, and stock was not restored until April. A second Factor was the European Union: logistics and value-added tax issues restricted direct-to-consumer sales there, a market that represented 10 per cent of second-quarter 2025 sales.
Gross Margin held up better than volume. It was 44 per cent in both the first and second quarters of 2026, compared with 41 per cent in 2025, which the company links to channel mix and price increases. That is a three-point improvement, achieved while volumes were constrained.
Analysis: a margin story that needs volume
The data point to a Business whose pricing is sound but whose growth depends on supply. A higher margin on lower sales does not fully offset the revenue shortfall, and the company says the recovery from stock-outs and headset delays is challenging. The chief executive said sales of the headset are still expected in the third quarter and that first reviews had been exceptional.
Small hardware companies commonly face working-capital strain when demand outruns production, because inventory must be financed before it is sold, and delays between ordering components and selling finished goods can stretch cash further. Earlier filings showed the company raising funds through private placements and a convertible Loan in 2023 and 2024, and the release refers to an update on loan arrangements in an earlier quarter, so financing remains a topic to monitor.
Risks and milestones
Key risks include repeat stock-outs, which would again interrupt sales and customer momentum, delays to the headset, reliance on a limited product range, exposure to European tax and logistics rules, and the funding needs typical of a small listed company.
The milestones to follow are the first headset shipments, evidence that supply is stable across the core range, any restoration of European direct sales and the next quarterly filing, which should show whether the percentage declines are narrowing.
