Global Commodity Market Wrap-Up

Global metals traded with mixed performance last week as base metals outperformed precious metals. Gold declined 0.54%, silver fell 1.90%, copper gained 1.21%, lead slipped 1.08%, and zinc advanced 1.57%. Market sentiment remained cautious after the United States and Iran resumed diplomatic negotiations, reducing safe-haven demand. Investors also evaluated the Federal Reserve's policy outlook after rates were left unchanged. Focus now shifts to the U.S. JOLTS Job Openings report, ADP Employment Change, ISM Services PMI, and Nonfarm Payrolls for fresh signals on the labour market and interest rate expectations.

Natural gas declined 4.88% last week, pressured by expectations of comfortable U.S. inventories and moderate weather forecasts that limited near-term demand. Crude oil fell 5.20% during the week after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that negotiations with Iran would resume, easing concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Middle East and reducing geopolitical risk premiums. Meanwhile, sugar declined 0.74% as improved global supply expectations from key producing regions weighed on prices. Markets are now closely watching developments in U.S.-Iran talks, OPEC+ supply policy, weather conditions, and global demand trends for further direction across the energy and agricultural commodity markets.
