Global Commodity Market Wrap-Up

Global metals remained mixed, with gold declining 3.22%, silver falling 3.64%, copper gaining 0.56%, lead increasing 0.10% and zinc climbing 1.37%. Precious metals came under pressure as the U.S. dollar strengthened and expectations around the Federal Reserve’s policy outlook shifted following hawkish remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. Market attention now shifts toward upcoming U.S. Nonfarm Payrolls data and Chicago PMI, with investors assessing labour-market conditions and business activity for signals on the future interest-rate path.

Natural gas increased 0.80%, while Light Sweet Crude Oil recorded a 3.64% weekly decline as uncertainty surrounding U.S.-Iran relations and Strait of Hormuz shipping continued to influence energy markets. Crude prices, however, moved higher as the U.S. attack on an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz triggered retaliation from Tehran, raising concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies. In agriculture, soybean advanced 3.91%, corn gained 5.51% and US Sugar No. 11 declined 0.28%. Markets will also monitor OPEC+ supply decisions, weather conditions and global crop demand.
