Kenvue Inc.'s (NYSE:KVUE) investors are due to receive a payment of $0.205 per share on 28th of May. This makes the dividend yield 3.4%, which will augment investor returns quite nicely. We've found 21 US stocks that are forecast to pay a dividend yield of over 6% next year. See the full list for free. Kenvue's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings We like to see robust dividend yields, but that doesn't matter if the payment isn't sustainable. Prior to this announcement, the company was paying out 148% of what it was earning. This situation certainly isn't ideal, and could place significant strain on the balance sheet if it continues. Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 117.1%. Assuming the dividend continues along the course it has been charting recently, our estimates show the payout ratio being 70% which brings it into quite a comfortable range.NYSE:KVUE Historic Dividend May 13th 2025 See our latest analysis for Kenvue Kenvue Doesn't Have A Long Payment History The dividend has been pretty stable looking back, but the company hasn't been paying one for very long. This makes it tough to judge how it would fare through a full economic cycle. Since 2023, the dividend has gone from $0.80 total annually to $0.82. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 1.2% a year over that time. It's good to see at least some dividend growth. Yet with a relatively short dividend paying history, we wouldn't want to depend on this dividend too heavily. The Dividend Has Limited Growth Potential Investors who have held shares in the company for the past few years will be happy with the dividend income they have received. Let's not jump to conclusions as things might not be as good as they appear on the surface. Earnings per share has been sinking by 23% over the last three years. A sharp decline in earnings per share is not great from from a dividend perspective. Even conservative payout ratios can come under pressure if earnings fall far enough. Over the next year, however, earnings are actually predicted to rise, but we would still be cautious until a track record of earnings growth can be built. Kenvue's Dividend Doesn't Look Great In summary, while it is good to see that the dividend hasn't been cut, we think that at current levels the payment isn't particularly sustainable. The company isn't making enough to be paying as much as it is, and the other factors don't look particularly promising either. Overall, this doesn't get us very excited from an income standpoint. Story Continues Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company.
