Northern Shield Resources Inc. (TSXV: NRN) announced on November 4, 2026, that trenching at the Creston Target on its flagship Root & Cellar Property in Newfoundland has uncovered additional copper mineralization within a porphyry dike, extending the system identified earlier this year. The company reports this represents the first porphyry-hosted copper identified on both the property and, to its knowledge, on the Burin Peninsula. Assay results from composite and grab samples collected from the trenches remain pending. Investors may be watching for drill results as the company advances toward a planned maiden drilling programme.

Key Points

  • Northern Shield Resources Inc. (TSXV: NRN) announced trenching results at the Creston Target, Root & Cellar Property, Burin Peninsula, Newfoundland.
  • Trenching extended surface copper mineralization within a monzodiorite porphyry dike, correlating to the IP-1 geophysical anomaly centre.
  • Chalcocite and chalcopyrite were identified across two trenches spanning approximately 30 metres apart; assay results are pending.
  • Investors should watch for assay results and updates on the planned maiden drilling programme targeting the IP-1 anomaly.

Creston Trench Results Reveal Copper Minerals Across Two Separate Excavations

Trenching at the Creston Target exposed fine disseminated chalcocite with occasional bornite approximately 2 metres below the initial discovery and across the 6-metre width of the first trench. Two of six composite samples, each collected over 1-metre intervals, also contained patches of fine chalcocite stringers. Thirty metres away, a second trench intersected fine-grained disseminated chalcopyrite in the same monzodiorite porphyry over its last 1.5 metres, coinciding with the stronger portion of the IP-1 anomaly. The chalcopyrite transitioned to minor disseminated chalcocite over the next 6 metres toward the first trench.

First Porphyry Copper on the Burin Peninsula Signals Regional Exploration Potential

The company states this is the first porphyry-hosted copper identified on the Root & Cellar Property and, to its knowledge, on the Burin Peninsula. A further 25 metres downslope, a small test pit exposed magnetite-bearing rhyolite porphyry containing minor pyrite, trace chalcopyrite, and associated potassic alteration. President and CEO Ian Bliss commented that multiple porphyry-hosted copper occurrences now exist at surface over an IP target that strengthens at depth, and that grade and scale will be determined by drilling. Rock samples from the mineralized porphyry dikes were on display at the Mineral Resources Review Conference in St. John's on November 4–5.

Phased Surface Programme Continues Ahead of Planned Maiden Drill Campaign at IP-1

Northern Shield is continuing a phased programme to advance porphyry copper mineralization at the Creston Discovery, including additional mechanical trenching at IP-1 and other nearby targets. The release states the trenches will be washed and expanded to follow the mineralized porphyry and determine its extent, after which additional detailed sampling will be undertaken. Surface work is intended to refine and prioritise targets for a planned maiden drilling programme designed to test the IP-1 target, the interpreted larger body at depth, and several copper occurrences exposed in the quarry.
