Which Drugmakers Published Third-Quarter 2026 Numbers on Nov 2?
Five pharmaceutical and biotech operators all reported on Nov 2, 2026 for the three months ended Sep 30, 2026. Every one grew revenue, by rates between 10.4% and 41.2%, although bottom lines and outlooks split in different directions.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX) brought in $3.44 billion, a 12% gain, and produced $654 million on a GAAP basis. Neurocrine Biosciences (NASDAQ:NBIX) generated $1,122.7 million of sales, up 41.2%, along with $206.5 million of net income. Krystal Biotech (NASDAQ:KRYS) reached $127.3 million in revenue, a 30% increase, plus $63.1 million of net income.
Jazz Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:JAZZ) reported revenue of $1.243 billion, roughly 10% higher, but a $483.4 million net loss. BioMarin (NASDAQ:BMRN) booked $1,025 million of revenue, which grew 32%, and a GAAP net loss of $123 million.
This group runs in the order listed, not by ranking, and both loss-making firms booked acquisition-linked charges.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals: Lower GAAP Earnings Sit Beside Higher Revenue Guidance
Top-line growth at Vertex came in at 12%, lifting sales from $3.08 billion to $3.44 billion; cystic fibrosis treatments did the heavy lifting, and CASGEVY, JOURNAVX and PALSONIFY added to the total. Profit on a GAAP basis retreated by approximately 39.6% (calculated), landing at $654 million, or $2.56 a diluted share, after costs linked to an Acquisition completed Sep 1, 2026.
Adjusted (non-GAAP) earnings stayed around $1.2 billion, and the per-share adjusted figure came in at $4.76, against $4.80 before. The full-year revenue target rose to a window of $13.15 billion to $13.25 billion, replacing $13.1 billion to $13.2 billion.
Cash and marketable securities closed at $9.8 billion, compared with $12.3 billion on Dec 31, 2025. The drop reflects $9.0 billion of net cash directed to the acquisition and buybacks, partly cushioned by a $4.5 billion term loan.
Neurocrine Biosciences: INGREZZA, CRENESSITY and VYKAT XR Lift Sales Past $1.1 Billion
INGREZZA revenue went up to $801.5 million, previously $686.6 million. CRENESSITY sales more than doubled to $210.8 million, and VYKAT XR brought in $106.7 million after its May 2026 purchase. A $20 million uptick from customer order timing lifted INGREZZA's figure, and management anticipates this reverses during the final quarter.
Earnings were $206.5 million ($1.96 diluted), marginally trailing the $209.5 million ($2.04) of the comparison period, since equity-holding losses of $52.3 million (unrealized) displaced a $30.6 million gain. Research spending climbed to $351.8 million; the figure was $250.0 million before.
INGREZZA's full-year guidance moved up, now $2.9 billion to $2.925 billion. Liquid holdings (cash and marketable securities) shrank to $789.7 million; at the end of 2025 they were $2,543.4 million.
Krystal Biotech: A Tax Swing Explains Lower Net Income Despite 30% Sales Growth
Every dollar of Krystal's $127.3 million in revenue came from Vyjuvek, a gene therapy, versus $97.8 million previously. Operating Income grew 72% (calculated), landing at $71.1 million compared with $41.4 million.
Krystal's $63.1 million profit ($2.05 diluted) lagged the $79.4 million ($2.66) reported before. The difference: a $31.4 million tax benefit in the earlier quarter, versus $17.1 million of tax expense in the current one.
In October 2026 the directors approved buybacks capped at $400 million, and the company held over $1.2 billion in cash and investments. Guidance addresses costs only: the non-GAAP research and SG&A range was reduced to $155 million to $165 million, and no revenue outlook appears in the files.
Jazz Pharmaceuticals: A Record Top Line Undercut by an Acquired R&D Expense
Jazz reported record revenue of $1.243 billion, up from $1.126 billion, with Xywav net sales of $483 million rising 12% and oncology revenue advancing 35%. Ziihera contributed $21 million during its first quarter on the market.
A purchase closed on Sep 15, 2026 and produced a $754.2 million charge for in-process R&D that was acquired. That charge pushed operating results to a $413.4 million loss, and the net result was a $483.4 million loss, or $7.48 a share. On an adjusted basis, the per-share loss was $3.88, according to the company.
Jazz's 2026 revenue outlook was both raised and narrowed, landing between $4.775 billion and $4.85 billion. During the quarter it placed $1.25 billion of convertible notes, and the earlier guidance is not disclosed in the files.
BioMarin: Crossing $1 Billion in One Quarter Alongside a Lower Full-Year Revenue Target
BioMarin's revenue hit $1,025 million, a 32% jump on $776 million, marking the first quarter above the $1 billion threshold. Metabolic Conditions sales increased 44% to $744 million, and VOXZOGO rose 12% to $245 million.
Net red ink on a GAAP basis reached $123 million, which equals $0.63 a share. The drivers were amortization charges, borrowing costs tied to the deal, integration outlays, and a $287.7 million acquired in-process research line. Adjusted EPS came to $0.23, compared with $0.12 before.
The 2026 revenue range now reads $3.8 billion to $3.9 billion, having been $3.875 billion to $3.925 billion. A deferral of about $70 million from one overseas buyer played a part. Non-GAAP EPS expectations dropped as well, to $2.80 to $3.10 instead of $4.90 to $5.10.
Sector Comparison: Average Growth of 25.2% With Margins Spread Widely
For the five, mean growth was 25.2% (calculated); the high is Neurocrine Biosciences at 41.2%, the low Jazz Pharmaceuticals at 10.4%, a 30.8-point range (calculated). The combined top line came to about $6,959 million (calculated), while combined net income, after two losses, was about $317 million (calculated).
Margin spreads were large. Krystal Biotech posted about 49.6% (calculated), whereas Vertex Pharmaceuticals managed 19.0% (calculated) and Neurocrine Biosciences 18.4% (calculated). Vertex's revenue was roughly 27 times (calculated) that of Krystal.
Three companies lifted outlooks (Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Neurocrine Biosciences and Jazz Pharmaceuticals), BioMarin reduced revenue and EPS targets, and Krystal Biotech trimmed an expense range. The bases differ because GAAP results at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Jazz Pharmaceuticals and BioMarin include deal charges.
What to Watch Next: Regulatory Deadlines, a New York R&D Day and Deferred Orders
Povetacicept, which targets IgA nephropathy, carries an FDA action goal of Nov 30, 2026 at Vertex, and a fresh chief financial officer arrives on Jan 1, 2027. Neurocrine's New York R&D Day falls on Dec 15, 2026, and its 2027 INGREZZA outlook follows in February.
BioMarin faces FDA action deadlines of Feb 28, 2027 (VOXZOGO in achondroplasia) and May 30, 2027 (hypochondroplasia), and it expects deferred orders to land near the turn of the year. For Jazz, the FDA decision date is Apr 16, 2027, covering a new Epidiolex capsule.
Hailey-Hailey readouts are anticipated before the year closes for Krystal, and interim cystic fibrosis figures are due during the opening half of 2027.
