Five Names Leading the Season's Deficit Rankings
The five firms below released results on Nov 2, 2026 and are ranked by the size of their quarterly net loss, starting with the largest. People Inc (NASDAQ:PPLI) tops the list at $687.5 million attributable to shareholders, with Jazz Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:JAZZ) sitting second at $483.4 million.
Third place belongs to Camping World Holdings (NYSE:CWH), with a $320.1 million deficit. California Resources (NYSE:CRC) recorded $315 million in losses, and BioMarin (NASDAQ:BMRN) showed a $123 million GAAP shortfall.
Each write-up links the outcome principally to a single large item, whether a stake markdown, an acquisition-linked R&D expense, a goodwill charge or a derivative hit. Revenue bases stretch from $421 million for California Resources up to $1.58 billion for Camping World. Sales direction was split, with Jazz and BioMarin expanding while the remaining three contracted.
1. People Inc: A Stake Revaluation Behind a $687.5 Million Deficit
Third quarter revenue for People Inc came to $430.8 million, a 4% decline, and the loss attributable to shareholders reached $687.5 million, equal to $9.15 a share. The company owns close to 26.6% of a gaming and resort operator, carried at market value, which generated a $1.12 billion unrealized deficit during the quarter.
Tax benefits of $278.4 million and a gain of $174.9 million before taxes, tied to selling a fund holding, softened the outcome. Operating results moved from a $27.2 million loss to a $3.0 million one, and adjusted EBITDA came in at $54.8 million.
The filing points largely to AI-driven shifts in how people search and discover content as the cause of a 26% Core Sessions decline. Roughly half of a typical year's adjusted EBITDA lands in the fourth quarter.
2. Jazz Pharmaceuticals: Acquired Research Charge Swamps a Sales Peak
Jazz's third quarter sales reached $1.243 billion, roughly 10% above $1.126 billion, with Xywav climbing 12% to reach $483 million, plus oncology gains of 35%. The company posted a loss of $483.4 million, which is $7.48 a diluted share, compared with $251.4 million of profit a year before.
The deal closed Sep 15, 2026, with an outlay of $820.0 million after netting out cash acquired, and Jazz recorded $754.2 million of acquired in-process R&D expense. Non-GAAP loss per share came to $3.88, and excluding the charge, non-GAAP EPS would have been $7.15, management said.
Jazz lifted and narrowed its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to between $4.775 billion and $4.85 billion.
3. Camping World: Goodwill Write-Down of $286.7 Million Deepens the Loss
Camping World posted third quarter sales of $1.58 billion, a 12.4% decrease, and a loss of $320.1 million, or $3.09 a diluted Class A share. The noncash goodwill charge of $286.7 million concerned its RV and Outdoor Retail reporting unit, which management connected to soft new RV demand, discounting, elevated borrowing costs and weaker consumer mood.
New vehicle unit Volume dropped 25.4%, reaching 15,126, and average selling price moved up 11.7%. Adjusted EBITDA came to $36.0 million, a 62.4% decline.
Full-year adjusted EBITDA is now projected to land under the lower boundary of the former range, which sat between $230 million and $270 million, and the company is not providing further annual guidance. Yearly savings from its efficiency initiative now top $150 million.
4. California Resources: A Derivative Markdown Pushes Results Into the Red
For the third quarter, California Resources reported a $315 million net deficit, or $3.55 a diluted share, versus $64 million of Net Income the prior year. Adjusted net income reached $104 million, equal to $1.17 per diluted share. A $540 million hit that did not involve cash came from Commodity derivative revaluations.
Total operating revenues came to $421 million, against $855 million, a 50.8% (calculated) drop that includes derivative losses. Free Cash Flow totaled $147 million, and the board increased the quarterly payout roughly 4% to $0.42 a share, due Dec 18, 2026. Sales from oil, gas and NGL rose by an estimated 40% (calculated), reaching $1.002 billion.
5. BioMarin: Acquisition-Related Expenses Accompany a First $1 Billion Quarter
BioMarin's revenue reached $1,025 million, up 32%, marking its first quarter over $1 billion, partly because a completed Acquisition contributed a first full quarter. The GAAP loss was $123 million, or $0.63 a share, versus $31 million the prior year, while non-GAAP diluted EPS came to $0.23.
Management named intangible amortization, interest on acquisition debt, inventory step-up amortization, integration spending and the $287.7 million acquired in-process R&D charge as contributors.
The company lowered its 2026 revenue forecast to $3.80 billion through $3.90 billion, pointing to one overseas customer that postponed orders worth around $70 million.
Charges Versus Core Results Across the Five
Together, the five net losses add up to roughly $1,929.0 million (calculated), averaging about $385.8 million (calculated). People Inc's deficit was around 5.6 times BioMarin's (calculated). People Inc's $1.12 billion markdown, Jazz's $754.2 million charge, California Resources' $540 million derivative hit and BioMarin's $287.7 million charge each surpassed their company's net loss. Camping World's $286.7 million Impairment represented roughly 89.6% of the deficit (calculated).
Underlying indicators were mixed. California Resources' adjusted Earnings came to $104 million, BioMarin's non-GAAP EPS was $0.23, and Camping World's adjusted per-share loss stood at $0.19. Guidance moved in opposite directions, with Jazz raising its outlook and Camping World and BioMarin lowering theirs. Measurement bases vary; the California Resources number carries derivative losses.
